Subject: Why Linux Sucks

Here is somebody that seems to have used Linux quite a bit. Note the way he prefixes his remarks - "I know I take the risk of generating a lot of heat with this post, ..". He seems to be aware that the Linux Nuts don't take kindly to any criticism of Linux and attack mercilessly even if the criticism comes from one of their own.

Note the very first comment - "switch to PCLinuxOS". It is assumed that, if you are running Linux, you have no life, and will gladly switch from one distribution to another to get some small thing working!

"This article was mainly inspired by my (failing) attempts to set up my MythTV box. I understand that Myth is still heavily in development, but it's still a pain in the ass to set up. QAM256 HDTV is possible in it, but it took an ungodly amount of time to work the channel frequencies and setup before I could even think about getting it into MythTV. There were also tons of cropping and overscan issues with the DVI->HDMI connection for my TV. I must have tried several dozen modelines, all with no effect in quality or fixing of any issues whatsoever. So, I decided to give Windows Media Center a shot. Two wizard steps and I had the HDMI cropping issues fixed. TV recording worked right out of the box. Getting media stored on my file server was as simple as choosing Add Folder and selecting the folder from a list (that was already pre-populated with shared folders on my network). Frankly, Myth can't hold a candle to that level of ease I got with MCE. There's no QAM support and no support for my HD card, but that will be solved once I get the firewire cable to plug directly into my cable box (no need for QAM support there, since it's just a direct feed). I'm sorry Linux, but you lost this battle..."
